Kayak Sprint Copenhagen 2026 — Head-to-Head From the First Stroke

Paddle Games arrives in Copenhagen for the first time on 18 July, bringing its head-to-head elimination format to one of Europe’s most iconic cities. Kayak Sprint Copenhagen 2026 is the local identity of this edition — and like every Paddle Games event, it is built around direct confrontation, continuous racing, and a format that spectators can follow from the first heat to the final.

Rather than racing against the clock, competitors face each other directly across a full day of racing built around qualification, repechage opportunities, and knockout rounds. The format ensures there is no quiet moment on the water.

Two Groups. One Goal.

Both the men’s and women’s competitions begin with athletes divided into two groups, racing head-to-head from the first stroke. The structure rewards strong performances while keeping the field alive in the early stages — athletes who don’t qualify directly from their heat have a second route through repechage racing.

By the time the repechage phase is complete, the field has been reduced to its final contenders. From the quarterfinals onward, there is no second chance. Every race is direct qualification only, and every start carries final-level pressure.

How the Competition Runs

The opening heats establish the early hierarchy. Top finishers advance directly; the rest enter repechage, where the strongest fight their way back into the draw. Those who don’t make it through are out.

From the quarterfinals, the format becomes pure elimination. Semifinals follow, and then the final — decided on the water, head-to-head, with no margin for error.

Competition Structure

Men’s Competition (depending on entry numbers): group rounds, repechage, Round of 16, quarterfinals, semifinals, final.

Women’s Competition (depending on entry numbers): group rounds, repechage, quarterfinals, semifinals, final.

Final progression details and qualification numbers will be confirmed once entries close.

Copenhagen. First Edition.

Kayak Sprint Copenhagen 2026 marks the arrival of the Paddle Games format in a city with deep roots in paddling. For the athletes competing, it is a chance to be part of something new. For the spectators, it is a day of racing where every result matters and the path to the final is earned on the water.

Every race counts!
