At Paddle Games, we are deeply committed to sustainability and actively work to reduce the carbon footprint of our events. A key element in making this possible is our partnership with NELO, whose support has been instrumental in our efforts to promote environmentally responsible practices within the paddling community.
A great example of this occurred in Palma, where we hosted an international race that brought together 32 paddlers from countries including Sweden, Denmark, Germany, Portugal, The Netherlands, Poland, the United Kingdom, and Italy. Instead of requiring each athlete to transport their own kayak, we streamlined the process by using only 17 standard K1 kayaks, which were shared among all the participants. This not only encouraged camaraderie and cooperation among the athletes but also significantly reduced the number of boats that needed to be transported.
Moreover, in our continued effort to cut down on the environmental impact of road travel, we transported all the kayaks using just one trailer. This minimized the emissions typically associated with long-distance travel, especially for participants traveling from distant locations across Europe. By consolidating the logistics in this way, we dramatically reduced the overall carbon footprint of the event.
Through innovative solutions like these, Paddle Games is striving to set new standards in event sustainability, proving that international competitions can be organized in a way that respects and protects the environment. We are proud to collaborate with NELO in advancing this mission and will continue to seek out new ways to make our events as eco-friendly as possible. Together, we believe we can lead by example and inspire others to adopt greener practices in the world of competitive sports.
